Born in Wales, Sarah grew up in Italy, returning to the UK as a teenager. Sarah read modern languages at UCL before moving into journalism, starting at the Daily Mirror before joining The Times. It was there that she met Michael Gove, then comment editor, before he became an MP and senior cabinet minister. They married in 2001 before parting ways in 2021. Sarah is now an award-winning columnist for the Daily Mail and the Mail on Sunday. She lives in London with the kid and (too many) animals. In June 2025, How Not To Be A Political Wife, Vine's memoir, was published by HarperCollins.
